Location

Scheveningen, The Hague (The Netherlands), provides the setting for the European Robotics League (ERL), bringing robotics innovation and smart technologies into a real-world coastal environment. The competitions and demonstrations take place in Living Lab Scheveningen, the city’s open-air testing ground where technology, innovation, and public space come together.

Living Lab Scheveningen stretches along the Scheveningen boulevard, from the Zwarte Pad to the Harbour. It is a dynamic testing and learning environment where digital innovations are explored through small-scale research projects, known as use cases. These projects focus on practical applications that contribute to a smart, sustainable, and livable city. The different ERL challenges will take place at multiple locations along the boulevard. More information on the exact competition locations can be found here.

The Living Lab offers a responsible and collaborative setting to investigate both the opportunities and the challenges of emerging technologies. The municipality of The Hague works closely with companies, knowledge institutions, residents, and public authorities to assess not only technical performance, but also broader impacts related to data management, privacy, safety, ethics and societal acceptance. Successful solutions can be scaled up for wider use across the city and region, while limitations and challenges are identified early through real-world testing.
